Box Score

JERSEY CITY, N.J.- La Salle scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute to down Saint Peter's 2-1 in non-conference men's soccer action on Saturday.

Marcel Maddee' (Berlin, Germany/Gymnasium Villa Elisabeth), who had an assist against St. Francis Brooklyn on Tuesday, notched his first goal of the season for the Peacocks (0-3-1) off an assist from Rafael Braga (Union, N.J./Union). Carlos Suarez (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/St. Benedict's Prep), the current Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, made five saves in the loss.

Jason Plumbhoff paced the Explorers (1-2-2) with a tally and an assist while Andrew Lill also found the twine and John McCarthy turned away two shots in the winning effort.

The two teams battled to a scoreless result before La Salle scored twice in the second half en route to a 2-1 victory.

With the score tied at 1, Joe Farrell connected with Plumhoff, who found the right post on the ground from 18-yards out for the decisive goal at the 77:47 mark.

The Explorers got the scoring started with Lill headed the ball into the net off a Plumhoff free kick at the 50:38 mark.

It didn't take long for Saint Peter's to answer when Braga fed Maddee', who ripped a shot to the far left post and into the netting at the 51:51 mark to even the score at 1.

The Peacocks had three shots after they tied the game at 1, but did not have another scoring chance after La Salle retook the lead. Luke Fairlamb (Northampton, England/Unity College) missed wide in the 58th minute and then Omar Crowl (Brooklyn, N.Y./Thomas Jefferson) (60th minute) and Maddee' (63rd minute) both missed high for the squad's scoring chances.

Saint Peter's returns to action on Wednesday at home against George Washington. Game time is 4 p.m.
