Saint Peter's Falls To LIU Brooklyn, 5-1

JERSEY CITY, N.J.  – LIU Brooklyn defeated Saint Peter's 5-1 in non-conference women's soccer action on Friday.

Ashley Drozd (Calverton, N.Y. / Riverhead) scored her second goal of the season for the Peacocks (0-4-0) in the loss.

Shino Kuniswa, Jenn Peters, Tori Shinkowitz, Chloe Amaradio and Rayah Seckler each found the back of the net for the Blackbirds (2-3-1) while Jessica Sexton made four saves in the winning effort.

LIU Brooklyn scored twice in the first half and three times in the second half to come away with its fourth-straight victory against Saint Peter's.

The Blackbirds started the scoring when Madison Gomez fed Kunisawa in the 16th minute before Shinkowitz assisted Peters in the 22nd minute to give LIU Brooklyn a 2-0 edge at the break. 

Gomez then recorded her second helper of the day when she connected with Shinkowitz in the 61st minute to give LIU Brooklyn a 3-0 lead.

Drozd cut the margin to 3-1 two minutes later when she found the twine for the second time this season at the 62:09 mark. The freshman also scored against NJIT on Aug. 29 at Jaroschak Field.

Amaradio regained the three-goal margin off helpers from Allison King and Alexandra Kidd in the 74th minute before Seckler sealed the victory with a tally off a Mia Chiatto feed in the 85th minute.

Saint Peter's returns to action on Sunday when the squad continues its five-game homestand against VMI. Match time is 1 p.m.
