Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. – St. Francis Brooklyn scored two goals in the second half to down Saint Peter's 3-1 in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday.
Omar Crowl (Brooklyn, N.Y./Thomas Jefferson) scored the Peacocks' (0-2-1) first goal of the season off a Marcel Maddee' (Berlin, Germany/Gymnasium Villa Elizabeth) assist in the first half while Carlos Suarez (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/St. Benedict's Prep), the current Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, made four saves in the loss.
"We played well and controlled the tempo of the game for large periods," said head coach Julian Richens. "It was great to see Omar Crowl get off the mark in his first Division I game. We will be more than ready for our next game against La Salle on Saturday."
Gabriel Bagot notched both second-half tallies off John Johansson assists while Kevin Correa also found the twine on the night. Jack Binks made six saves in the winning effort.
St. Francis Brooklyn broke a 1-all halftime standstill with two goals in the final frame to earn the win in the first-ever contest at the Brooklyn Bridge Park.
With the game tied at 1, broke the tie when he had a breakaway off a feed from Bagot at 63:07 to give the Terriers a 2-1 edge. Bagot then sealed the victory off a Johansson assist at 80:58 for the 3-1 win.
Correa got the scoring started on the night when he found the back of the net off a Cyril Coisne pass two minutes and 25 seconds into the match for a 1-0 edge.
After not scoring in the first two games of the season, Saint Peter's broke through in the 36th minute. Making his Saint Peter's debut in his hometown, Crowl chipped in a corner kick serve from Maddee at 35:41 to tie the game at 1, but the Terriers scored twice in the second half to come away with the victory.
The Peacocks return to action on Saturday at La Salle. Match time is 1 p.m.
