RED BANK, N.J.- The Saint Peter's University track and field teams posted strong efforts across the board at the CTC Championships this weekend hosted by Georgian Court.
The women's side finished first of 20 teams, scoring a total 185 points, while the men finished third of 17 teams with 89 points.
On the women's side, Renee Brzyski (Princeton, N.J./Montgomery HS) set a Saint Peter's record in the Heptathlon, scoring 4833 total points. That mark now puts her at 21st in the NCAA Division I East Outdoor Qualifying List- the highest of any Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference student-athlete.
Stefanny Laureano (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood High School) and Jamelia Johnson (Nutley, N.J./Passaic County Tech) finished two-three in the 200m Dash, coming in at 26.18 and 26.44, respectively. Morgan Mclaughlin and Monika Miazga (Clifton, N.J./Clifton High School) also finished in the top ten in the event at sixth and seventh.
Laureano crossed the finish line first in the 400m Dash (57.07) Shona Potrzuski (Pitman, N.J./Pitman High School) came second in the 400m Dash at 58.17, while Miazga finished two spots behind her.
Gina Nocerino (Wantagh, N.Y./General Dougless MacArthur) captured first place in the 800m at 2:20.06. Jaleesa Dunlap (Piscataway, NJ / Piscataway High School) came in fourth in the same event at 2:24.02.
Morgan Mclaughlin (Dunellen, N.J./Union Catholic Regional High School) clinched the top spot in the 100m Hurdles at 14.73
The women's 4x100m Relay team of Anrijana Andric, Jennifer Cajou (Amityville, N.Y./Farmingdale High School), Latasha Green (Queens, N.Y./Jamaica High School) and Essence Rogers (Central Islip, N.Y./Bay Shore High School) came second with a combined time of 49.98. The 4x800 Relay team of Natalia Carvalho (Naugatuck, Conn./Naugatuck High School), Dunlap, Selena Marshall (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle High School) and Devon Carman (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg High School) was also successful coming in first.
In the field events, Sharlyn Ramirez (Victor, N.Y./Victor Senior High School) and Janice Flores-Reyes (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) finished three-four in the Pole Vault at 2.90m and 2.60m, respectively.
Jennifer Cajou's leap of 5.52m in the Long Jump event was good for second, and Jamelia Johnson and Shaena Wizzard came second and fourth, respectively in the Triple Jump.
Cristina Vilsaint (Union, N.J./Union High School) captured first place in the Hammer Throw (49.13m) and clinched fourth in the Shot Put (11.73).
Cherrice Brown (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) and Regina Raglan (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle High School) came fourth and fifth in the Hammer Throw event as well.
On the men's side, Ieshawn Johnson (Freeport, N.Y./Baldwin High School) led all performers coming in first in the Discuss Throw (49.01m).
Bentley Whitfield (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) also did well in the throws events, placing third in the Hammer Throw with a toss of 46.11m.
Kevin Persson (Mt. Olive, N.J./Kean University) and Tevin Cunningham (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen High School) came in third and fourth in the 400m Dash at 48.94 and 50.05, respectively.
Lance Weaver (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway High School) finished second in the 800m at 1:55.00 while teammate Travis Gallardo (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) also came in second in the Shot Put (14.43m).
Jamel Presley (Rochester, N.Y./Rahway High School) posted several solid performances at the meet, coming first in the 110m Hurdles (15.16), fourth in the 400m Hurdles at 57.24 and fifth in the Long Jump (6.85m).
Cunningham added a second top four finish in the High Jump coming in at third (1.88m).
Saint Peter's returns to the track on April 27th for the TCNJ Meet in Pomona, N.J.
