Opening Pitch - The Saint Peter's University baseball team will host their first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) series this weekend, as it welcomes the Purple Eagles of Niagara University to Jaroschak Field...the teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday scheduled to begin at 12pm, and a single game on Sunday- also slated for 12pm...

Peacocks Start Off MAAC Play On Strong Note - The Peacocks opened up MAAC play with a 4-2 record after winning both series against Canisius and Fairfield…currently, the Peacocks are third in the conference standings behind Rider (5-1) and Marist (6-3)...

Mancini On A Tear - Senior outfielder Matt Mancini enters this weekend's series having recorded multi-hit games in his last three contests...the fourth-year player is batting a torrid .500 in the month of April and has increased his batting average almost forty points since the Peacocks' last game in March...he now leads the squad in batting average on the year (.323) and has also scored a team-high 17 runs...

It Feels So Good To Be Back - After playing their first 22 games of the year on the road, the Peacocks held their first home game of the season on April 3rd against Long Island-Brooklyn...Saint Peter's will play 15 of their last 21 contests at Jaroschak Field...

Better Than The 8-Ball - The Peacocks scored nine runs in the top of ninth against Fairfield University on April 7th, resulting in a come-from-behind 11-7 victory, to win the three-game MAAC series, 2-1...the last time Saint Peter's scored nine runs in a single inning was during the 2008 season, when they scored nine in the bottom of the third against Hofstra to come away with a 14-3 win on March 12th...

Peacocks Pluck Blackbirds - On Wednesday, April 3rd, the Peacocks defeated LIU-Brooklyn in their home opener, 18-8...Saint Peter's 18 runs are the most the squad has scored since the 2008 season; when they scored 20 in a five-run win over Fairleigh Dickinson on April 16th...the Peacocks scored at least one run in every inning with the exception of two... 

We Want Moore – Freshman Robert Moore was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week after helping lead the Peacocks to a 2-1 series win over conference foe Canisius College…Moore finished 4-for-9 from the plate in the series, while scoring four of the Peacocks' nine total runs…all four of his hits were doubles, to allow him to record an .889 slugging percentage against the Griffs…in the first game of Saturday, March 23rd's  doubleheader, Moore went 3-for-4 with a walk and scored two runs to mark the second multi-hit game of his young career…Moore was also named the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association Division I Rookie of the Week for his efforts against Canisius...

Yeehaw To Yuhas On The Mound - Senior right-handed pitcher Mathew Yuhas led the Peacocks to a sweep of MAAC foe Canisius by pitching a seven inning, complete game shutout in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader…Yuhas scattered three hits, one walk and struck out six on 119 pitches to help the Peacocks capture their first series win over the Golden Griffins since the 2006 season...Yuhas would out-duel Canisius' starter Devon Stewart in the 2-0 victory, en route to the third shutout of his career- making him first all-time in the Peacock record books…the complete game was the second of the season for Yuhas, and the sixth of his career in 18 starts for the Peacocks…Yuhas leads the pitching staff in wins on the year; sitting at 4-2...

It Runs In The Family - Freshman John Leiter, nephew of former MLB All-Star and World Series Champion Al Leiter and of former MLB right-handed pitcher Mark Leiter, has impressed in his first season in the Peacocks' uniform…against UMES (3/02) he picked up his first career win and against NJIT (3/16) he notched his first career save…

Making Their Way Into The Record Books - Power hitter Chris Grimes has etched his name into the Peacock record books, sitting in the top ten in multiple categories...the fifth year senior is sixth all-time in doubles (35), seventh in home runs (12) and eighth in RBIs (88)...he is also first in fielding percentage (.993) and putouts (790)...Matt Mancini is fifth all-time in lowest career ERA (3.96), while Zach Hopf is first all-time in lowest stolen base against percentage (.543) and fifth all-time in lowest opponent batting average (.274)...James Smith currently sits at third all-time in lowest stolen base against percentage (.571)...

Saint Peter's vs. the NEC – The Peacocks were scheduled to face off against an NEC member institution a total of seven times this season- marking the most games the squad has played against non-MAAC schools…Saint Peter's was slated to battle Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) on March 6th, but the game was postponed and will be rescheduled for a date TBA…Saint Peter's was originally scheduled to play seven total contests against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) schools, but due to inclement weather two (vs. Coppin State) were cancelled…overall, the Peacocks are 59-112 (.342) against current NEC member institutions…Saint Peter's has a losing record against every NEC school…they have the most wins vs. FDU, who they are 17-30 against, but have the best winning percentage against LIU-Brooklyn (13-15) who they defeated 18-8 last Wednesday…

Not NEC For Long - This season marks the last year Monmouth University will partcipate in the Northeast Conference...the South Jersey school has accepted an invitation to join the MAAC and will begin its membership next season..

Coming To Bat – The Peacocks will host their fourth consecutive home contest on Tuesday April 16th, as they welcome Wagner College for a single non-conference matchup at 3pm at Jaroschak Field...
