Order of Events
The Saint Peter's University track and field teams will compete
in their second outdoor meet of the 2013 season this weekend at the
St. Joseph Golden Eagle Invitational. The Peacocks will take on
Nassau CC, St. Joseph's College, Farmingdale, Middlesex CC,
Pratt Institute, Molloy, Suffolk CC, Medgar Evers, CCNY,
Queensborough CC, Hunter and Queens College. The meet will take
place at Farmingdale State College (Farmingdale, N.Y.) on Saturday
and St. Joseph's (Patchogue, N.Y.) on Sunday. Field events are
scheduled to begin at 10am on Saturday, with running events slated
to start at 11am on Sunday.
Last Time On The Track: Last weekend, the
Peacocks participated in the VCU Ram Invitational and saw the women
finish in fourth and the men in sixth...Jamelia Johnson came in second in the Triple Jump with a
leap of 12.26m; establishing a new Saint Peter's record and also
marking the first time a Peacock had exceeded 40'...the 4x800
Meter Relay squad of Natalia Carvalho, Selena Marshall, Gina Nocerino and Monika Miazga (Clifton, N.J./Clifton High School) came in
second with a school record time of 9:40.68, behind MAAC rival
Rider...the men were led by Bentley Whitfield, who established a new Saint Peter's
record in the Hammer, with a first place throw of
51.15m...Isaiah Harris also added a first place finish in the Triple
Jump with a leap of 14.31m...
ECAC/IC4A Qualifiers: The Peacocks wrapped
up the 2012-13 indoor season the first weekend of March at the
ECAC/IC4A championships...Isaiah Harrisand Kevin Persson led the men, with fourth place finishes in their
respective events to record 5 points each...Harris competed in the Triple Jump and scored
with a mark of 14.92m, while Persson crossed the finish line in the
500m with a time of 1:03.26...Shona Potrzuski scored five points for the
women, finishing in fourth in the 500m Run with a time of 1:13.71,
while Jamelia Johnson scored three with a sixth
place finish in the Triple Jump (12.09m)...
Three-Peat : The women's indoor track and
field team secured their third consecutive MAAC Indoor Championship
on February 15th at the New Balance Armory Track &
Field Center...the Peacocks secured their third straight
title by finishing with a team score of 185.5...Rider
University came in second with 164.5 and Manhattan College followed
in third place with a score of 122.5...Iona College finished with
59 points, followed by Loyola University Maryland (50.5) and Marist
College (32)...Sophomore Jamelia Johnson was voted the
Most Outstanding Performer in field events after capturing first
place finishes in both the Long Jump (5.81m) and
Triple Jump (11.44m)...
At The Helm : Head Coach Mike
Massone is in the middle of his sixth year at the helm of the Saint
Peter's track and field program...Massone is a three-time MAAC
Indoor Women's Coach of the Year, most recently receiving the
honors following this year's 2013 Indoor Championship...Massone is
also a two-time MAAC Outdoor Women's Coach of the
Year...
Next up: The Peacocks will conclude the
month of March with in Richmond, Va., as they travel down south on
March 29th to partcipate in the Richmond Invite...
