Saint Peter's managed to establish a 2-1 lead over the Rams after scoring a run in each of the third and fourth innings. An RBI lineout by Matt Mancini (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) scored Farrell, who led off the inning with a triple to center gave the Peacocks a 1-0 advantage in the third. The hosts soon knotted the score in the bottom of the frame however, on an RBI triple by Mike Amuri.
A throwing error by Fordham's first basemen allowed Speckmann to score and regain the lead for the visitors in the next inning, but the Rams were able to tack on four more runs duing their turn at bat to jump in front 5-2.
The Peacocks displayed their ability to battle back; scoring three in the fifth to tie the score at five. A triple to center by Speckmann brought home James Spadaccini (Butler, N.J./Butler High School) and Smith, followed by a single by Farrell to score Speckmann. That would be the closest Saint Peter's could get for the remainder of the contest, as Fordham registered two runs in the sixth and a final marker in the seventh to seal the win.
Overall, the Peacocks out-hit the hosts by a 10-9 margin, with each team committing two errors.
Saint Peter's returns to action on March 20th, for a 4pm contest against long-time, in-state rival Seton Hall in South Orange, N.J.
