Box Score Poughkeepsie, N.Y,- The Saint Peter's University Peacocks (2-25, 2-14 MAAC) travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. this evening to face off against the Marist College Red Foxes (21-6, 16-0 MAAC) for their last road contest of the regular season.
Today marks the second match up of the year for the Peacocks and Red Foxes, as Marist captured a 68-49 win over the Peacocks in the Yanitelli Center on February 3rd.
The Peacocks managed to battle back from two first half ten-point deficits and came as close as four with three minutes remaining, before Marist scored six straight to go into the half-time break leading by 10.
Saint Peter's came within single digits on mutltiple occasions in the second stanza, but failed to get closer than 9. The Red Foxes took control of the game in the final five minutes of the contest; outscoring the Peacocks by a 17-7 margin.
Kaydine Bent recorded her first career double-double in the loss; finishing with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Saint Peter's enters this afternoon's contest following a 73-58 loss to Rider in Jersey City, N.J. on February 24th.
The Peacocks managed to establish an early 12-11 lead seven minutes into the opening half, until an 11-1 Bronc run gave the visitors a nine-point advantage (22-13) they would maintain for the remainder of the contest.
Both Kristal Edwards 12 points, 12 rebounds) and Jesika Holmes (10 points, 10 rebounds) recorded double-doubles in the loss.
Marist enters tonight's contest at a perfect 16-0 in MAAC play, with their last loss coming on December 30th against Kentucky. In their last time in action, the Red Foxes came away with a 79-55 win over Loyola (2/24).
Today marks the 39th ever meeting between the Peacocks and Red Foxes. Marist maintain a 23-15 advantage in the series.
Tipoff is slated for 7pm in the McCann Center.
