Box Score The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team was defeated by the defending MAAC Chamions, Marist College, by a score of 68-49 this afternoon.
With the loss, Saint Peter's drops to 1-20, 1-9 MAAC and Marist improves to 1-6, 10-0 MAAC.
The Peacocks managed to battle back from two first half ten-point deficits and come as close as four with three minutes remaining, before Marist scored six straight to go into the half-time break leading by 10.
Saint Peter's managed to come within single digits on mutltiple occasions in the second stanza, but was unable to get closer than 9 points. The Red Foxes took control of the game in the final five minutes of the contest; outscoring the Peacocks by a 17-7 margin.
Kaydine Bent recorded her first career double-double in the loss; finishing with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Kristal Edwards (11) and Jesika Holmes (10) also finished in double-figures in the loss. Edwards added 6 boards, and 4 steals, while Holmes contributed 5 rebounds and 2 steals.
The Peacocks trailed from beginning to end; failing to attain a lead at any point. Marist led by as many as 20 points with 42 seconds remaining in the contest.
Overall, Saint Peter's shot 29.8% from the field, 15% from three-point range and 70.6% from the line. The Red Foxes shot 46.8%, 29.4% and 76%, respectively.
The Red Foxes out-rebounded the hosts by a 34-33 margin. Both teams committed 16 turnovers.
Marist also had three players in double-figures; Kristina Danella (13), Sydney Coffey (13) and Emma O'Connor (12).
Saint Peter's returns to action on Thursday, as they travel to Buffalo, NY to face the Canisius College Golden Griffins.
