Women's Basketball Looks To Get Back In Win Column Against Fairfield

The Saint Peter's University Peacocks (2-22, 2-11 MAAC) hit the road to face off against the Fairfield University Stags (15-9, 9-4 MAAC) to the for their second matchup of the year.

Today marks the 73rd ever meeting between the Peacocks and Stags. The Stags maintain a 37-35 advantage in the series.

Both teams met up just over two weeks ago in the Yanitelli Center, with the Stags coming away with a 58-50 win.

The Peacocks managed to battle back from a 10-point half-time deficit and get within 4 points in the last eight minutes, but could not get any closer.

Aziza May led Saint Peter's with 23 points; going 8-15 from the field. Kristal Edwards also finished in double-figures for the Peacocks; finishing with 11 points. Edwards added 6 boards and 3 steals. 

Overall, Saint Peter's shot 33.3% from the field, 41.7% from three-point range and 75% from the line. Fairfield shot 33.3% from the floor, 30% from long distance and 75% from the charity stripe. The Stags out-rebounded Saint Peter's by a 46-30 margin and committed 21 turnovers to the Peacocks' 16.

Saint Peter's enters this afternoon's contest following an 84-58 loss to Iona at home on Thursday.

The Peacocks were able to keep within striking distance, until a 14-4 run midway through the first half gave the Gaels a double-digit advantage they would maintain for the remainder of the contest.

Kaydine Bent led the hosts with a career-high 22 points, and just missed recording her third career double-double, finishing with 7 boards. Bent went 8-14 from the floor and 6-7 from the free throw line.

Fairfield enters today's contest on a two-game winning streak; most recently defeating Canisius, 56-50, on Thursday.
