LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Saint Peter's women's volleyball team was defeated on Saturday to conference for Rider.
Dayana Arrufat-Rondon (Truyillo, Puerto Rico/Carvin School) and Lauren Behrens (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) registered 10 kills each in the contest. Kaitlyn Sitton (Brush Praire, Wash./Prairie) finished with a team-best 16 assists and Jenny Pliska (Portland, Ore./La Salle College Prep) registered 28 digs.
In the first set, both teams would exchange points with the set tied at 12. With the set tied, Rider would go on a 6-1 run to take an 18-13 advantage. The Broncs would not look back, taking the first set 25-18.
Second set, both teams would trade points to tie the set at nine. The Broncs would go on a 6-3 run to take a 15-12 advantage. Saint Peter's would battle back, scoring four straight points to take a 16-15 lead. The teams would exchange points with Saint Peter's coming out on top in the second set, 26-24.
Third set, Rider would start quick, taking an early 14-5 lead. Saint Peter's would not be able to recover, taking the third set 25-12.
In the fourth set, Saint Peter's and Rider would exchange points to tie the set at 12. With the set tied at 12, the Broncs would go on an 8-2 run to seize control on the set. Saint Peter's would battle back, but it wouldn't be enough as Rider took the fourth set 25-23.
With the loss, Saint Peter's falls to 4-26 overall and 2-15 in conference play.
Saint Peter's returns to action Nov. 16, when they hit the road for its final road trip of the season.
