JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's women's volleyball team fell to conference foe Quinnipiac on Sunday.
Dayana Arrufat-Rondon (Truyillo, Puerto Rico/Carvin School) registered a game-high 17 kills. Laura Reinhart (Belvidere, N.J./Newton) tallied 11 kills on the afternoon. Kristina Baehr (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) finished with a team-best 26 assists and Jenny Pliska (Portland, Ore./La Salle College Prep) amassed a team-best 26 digs.
In the first set, Saint Peter's started fast, controlling the first set with a 21-9 advantage. The Peacocks would go on to take the first set, 25-15.
Second set, Saint Peter's picked up where they left off, taking an early 12-5 lead. Quinnipiac would battle back with a 5-2 run to cut the deficit. Saint Peters would not let up, scoring the next five points to take a 19-10 advantage. The Peacocks would go on to take the second set, 25-15.
In the third set, Quinnipiac would start the set on a 10-5 run. The Peacocks would respond, scoring three straight points to cut the deficit to two. Quinnipiac would answer, scoring four consecutive points to take a 14-8 lead. Saint Peter's would hang around throughout the set, but would the Bobcats would hold on to win the third set, 25-22.
Fourth set, the Bobcats jumped out to a 14-9 lead. Saint Peter's would answer, scoring three straight points to trim the deficit to two. Quinnipiac would respond, going on an 11-4 run to take the fourth set, 25-16.
In the decisive fifth set, both teams would exchange points with Quinnipiac out in front 14-8. Following a Saint Peter's timeout, they would score three straight points to cut the deficit. Quinnipiac would however, hold on for the 15-11-match win.
Chandler Thornton led the Bobcats with 13 kills. Allison Leigh tallied eight kills. Brittanie Robinson finished with a team-best 28 assists and team-best 14 digs.
With the loss, Saint Peter's falls to 4-25 overall and 2-15 in MAAC play. Quinnipiac improves to 5-22 overall and 3-11 in conference play.
Saint Peter's returns to action Nov. 9, when they hit the road to take on Rider University.
