Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Saint Peter's battled Quinnipiac to a scoreless result in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's soccer action on Saturday.
David Giddings (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) made two saves for the Peacocks (3-8-5, 1-4-3 MAAC) while Marcel Maddee' (Berlin, Germany/Gymnasium Villa Elizabeth) had a game-high five shots on the afternoon.
Borja Angoitia turned away two shots for the Bobcats (7-4-5, 5-1-3 MAAC) in the contest.
Quinnipiac outshot Saint Peter's 14-7 on the day, but neither team able to tingle the twine.
Giddings saves against the Bobcats came in the first half when he turned away James Doig in the seventh minute and Stevenson Hawkey in the 23rd minute.
AJ Johnson (Westampton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) had his scoring chance thwarted by Angoitia in the final minute of the first half.
Quinnipiac's Sam Nicol hit the cross bar in the 51st minute while the Peacocks' Maddee had his shot stopped by Angoitia in the 59th minute.
The Bobcats last chance in regulation came when Eric Panzer missed high in the 87 minute while Maddee had Saint Peter's last chance that was blocked by the Quinnipiac defense in the final minute of the second half.
In the first overtime, Maddee' was blocked by the Bobcats' defense in the 96th minute and Rafael Braga (Union, N.J./Union) missed high in the 99th minute. Quinnipiac had once chance in the first overtime, but Panzer missed wide in the final minute to send the match to double overtime.
The Bobcats' Brandon Strain-Goode had the only scoring chance for either team in the final 10 minutes, but missed high in the 103rd minute.
It marks the first time since the 2004 season the Peacocks have recorded five draws in a season.
With the tie, Saint Peter's was eliminated from playoff contention.
The Peacocks return to action at Fairfield on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
