LOUNDONVILLE, N.Y. – Saint Peter's was swept in its season-finale contest against Siena on Sunday.
Lauren Behrens (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) paced the Peacocks with 12 kills. Dayana Arrufat-Rondon (Truyillo, Puerto Rico/Carvin School) finished with 10 kills. Kristina Baehr (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) posted a team-high 29 assists in addition to 16 digs by Jenny Pliska (Portland, Ore./La Salle College Prep).
In the first set, both teams would exchange with Siena out in front 16-12. Saint Peter's would hang tough, going on a 6-2 run to tie the set at 18. The Peacocks and Saints would trade points to keep the set tied at 23. Siena would prevail, scoring two consecutive points to the first set 25-23.
Second set, Saint Peter's started quick, taking an early 6-3 advantage. Siena would respond however, scoring five straight points to take the 8-6 lead. Following a kill by Stephanie Mills (Albuquerque, N.M./Del Norte) to cut the deficit to one, the Saints continued its offensive attack, going on a 9-5 run to take a 12-7 lead. Saint Peter's would not be able to recover, dropping the second set 25-20.
In the third set, both teams traded points, tying the set at 14. Both teams would exchange points throughout, tying the set at 21. The Saints would take control, scoring three straight points and not looking back as Siena took the final set, 25-21.
Taylor Akana and Jacqueline Skeen finished with double-digit kills totals in the win for the Saints. Haley Howell registered a game-high 36 assists in the contest.
Saint Peter's finishes the season 4-28 overall and 2-16 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.
