Box Score LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Rider defeated Saint Peter's 3-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's soccer action on Wednesday night.
Emily Fenice (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) recorded a goal for the second-straight match off a Danielle Connolly (Monroe, N.Y./Washingtonville) assist for the Peacocks (2-10-0, 0-6-0 MAAC) while Molly O'Halloran (Colonia, N.J./Union Catholic Regional) made two saves in the loss.
Jennifer Meier and Hollie Kelsh fueled the Broncs (5-6-0, 2-3-0 MAAC) with a goal and an assist each and Priscilla Santos also found the twine. Vanessa Perdoma and Bethany-May Howard each played 45 minutes with Perdoma turning away two shots and Howard posting one saves in the winning effort.
Rider scored twice in the first half and added a goal in the final frame to earn the victory against Saint Peter's for the second-straight season.
Santos got the scoring started for the Broncs when she found netting off feeders from Kelsh and Meier at the 10:36 mark. Kelsh gave Rider a 2-0 edge when she scored off a Michelle Iacono assist at the 35:37 mark.
Fenice, who notched her first goal of the season on Saturday against Niagara, scored from 12-yards out from an indirect kick off the foot of Connolly to trim the margin to 2-1 at 52:12. It was Connolly's first collegiate point.
Meier then sealed the win when she found the twine off a Jody Skol helper at 70:08.
After scoring in back-to-back contests, Fenice has moved into seventh place in program history with 13 career goals and stands 10th with 29 career points, one shy of ninth place. It marks the second time in her career the senior has scored in consecutive games after finding the twine in back-to-back games against Fairleigh Dickinson on Aug. 19, 2012 and against Monmouth five days later last season.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Saturday at home against Marist. Match time is 1 p.m.
