HAMDEN, Conn. – The Saint Peter's women's volleyball team concluded its weekend road trip with a loss to Quinnipiac on Sunday.
Sophomore Lauren Behrens (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) finished with a team-best 12 kills in the contest. Junior Dayana Arrufat-Rondon (Truyillo, Puerto Rico/Carvin School) tallied 10 kills in the loss. Junior Kristina Baehr (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) finished with a team-high 27 assists. Senior Jenny Pliska (Portland, Ore./La Salle College Prep) tallied a game-best 23 digs.
In the first set, Quinnipiac started off hot, taking an early 10-3 advantage. The Peacocks would inch their way back, going on a 16-12 swing to trim the deficit. However, the Bobcats would hold on to win the set, 25-21.
Second set, Saint Peter's would start fast, starting the set with an 11-2 run. Quinnipiac would go on a 7-2 run to bring the deficit within four. The Peacocks would counter, scoring a four consecutive points. The Bobcats would hang around, but wouldn't close the gap as Saint Peter's won the second set, 25-20.
In the third set, both teams would trade points to the set at eight. With the score tied, Saint Peter's would go on a 10-4 run to take an 18-12 advantage. Quinnipiac would respond, scoring eight straight points to take a 20-18 lead. The Bobcats would hold on to win the third set, 25-23.
Fourth set, both teams would exchange points throughout to tie the set at 13. With the score tied, Saint Peter's would go on a 7-1 run to take a 20-14 advantage. Quinnipiac would not go away, going on a 10-4 run to tie the set back up at 24. The teams would continue to trade points, with the Bobcats holding on to win, 29-27.
With the loss, Saint Peter's drops to 3-16 overall and 1-6 in MAAC play.
The Peacocks return to action Oct. 9, when they welcome NJIT to the Yanitelli Center for their non-conference match.
