ORLANDO, Fla.- Siena scored in the 71st minute to down Saint Peter's in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Soccer Championships opening round on Thursday.
Molly O'Halloran (Colonia, N.J./Union Catholic Regional) made six saves for the Peacocks (2-15-0) in the loss.
Brittany Pffaf scored off a Coreena D'Alfonso helper at the 70:27 to list the Saints (10-8-1) to the victory and earn a date with No. 3 seed Iona on Friday at 11 a.m. Taylor Booth made two saves in the winning effort.
Saint Peter's battled Siena to a scoreless draw for 70 minutes, but Siena found the twine and then held on for the final 20 minutes to advance to the next round of the MAAC Women's Soccer Championships.
After the Saints scored, the Peacocks had a couple of chances to score but could not convert. Emily Fenice (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) had her shot saved in the 81st minute and Maddie Gregory (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) missed high in the 83rd minute for Saint Peter's final scoring chance.
Fenice finished her career ranked seventh in program history in career goals (14) and ninth in career points. Along with Fenice, Gregory, Danielle Connolly (Monroe, N.Y./Washingtonville), Chelsea Gray (Cave Creek, Ariz./Cactus Shadows [Scottsdale Community College]), Maggie Neiswanger (Holyoke, Mass./South Windsor) and Amanda Shimkus (Cave Creek, Ariz./Cactus Shadows [Scottsdale Community College]) played in their final collegiate contest in the match.
Saint Peter's was playing in its ninth MAAC Women's Soccer Championship and its first since 2009.
