Box Score NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Iona scored in the 87th minute to down Saint Peter's 1-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's soccer action on Wednesday.
Molly O'Halloran (Colonia, N.J./Union Catholic Regional) made nine saves for the Peacocks (2-8-0, 0-4-0 MAAC) in the loss.
The game remained scoreless until Emily Hansen found the back of the twine at the 86:05 mark off feeders from Safi Ayinde and Sofia Sanchez for the decisive tally.
Trista Rivera turned away three shots for the Gaels (3-5-2, 2-0-1 MAAC) in the winning effort.
After Iona took the advantage, Emly Fenice (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) had her shot blocked by the Gaels defense with two minutes remaining and Maggie Neiswanger (Holyoke, Mass./South Windsor) had the Peacocks final scoring chance, but Rivera made the shot in the waning seconds of the match.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Saturday at home against Niagara. Match time is 1 p.m.
