Women's Volleyball Falls To Marist On Sunday

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's women's volleyball team fell to conference foe Marist on Sunday.

Senior Jenny Pliska (Portland, Ore./La Salle College Prep) registered a game-high 15 digs in the contest. Sophomore Lauren Behrens (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) recorded a team-best nine kills. Junior Kristina Baehr (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) finished with 16 assists. 

In the first set, both teams would trade points, tying the set at 14. With the set tied, the Red Foxes would score five straight points to take a 19-14 advantage. Saint Peter's would respond, scoring four consecutive points to close the deficit to one.  Marist would hold on to the lead, taking the first set 25-21.

Second set, Saint Peter's and Marist exchanged points throughout to tie the set at eight. Tied at eight, Marist would go on a 14-5 run to take a 22-13 lead. Marist would not look back, taking the second set 25-17.

In the third set, Marist started off quick, taking an early 12-6 advantage in the set. Saint Peter's would answer back, scoring three straight points to cut the deficit to three. The Peacocks would get within one point of tying, but Marist would hold on for the win.

With the loss, Saint Peter's drops to 3-19 overall and 1-8 in MAAC play. Marist improves to 12-6 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

Saint Peter's returns to action Oct. 16, when they hit the road to take on Providence College in its non-conference matchup.
