Women's Volleyball Swept By Siena On Saturday

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's women's volleyball team was swept by conference foe Siena on Saturday.

Freshman Meredith Przybocki finished with a team-best seven kills on the afternoon. Junior Dayana Arrufat-Rondon (Truyillo, Puerto Rico/Carvin School) and sophomore Lauren Behrens (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) registered six kills each. Junior Kristina Baehr (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) registered 17 assists in the loss.

First set, Siena starts out quick, taking an early 13-7 lead. Saint Peter's would not be able to recover, as the Saints went on to take the first set, 25-13.

In the second set, Saint Peter's played Siena tough, exchanging points to tie the set at nine. With the set tied, Siena would score four consecutive points to take a 13-9 advantage. Saint Peter's would go on an 11-7 run to pull within a point of tying the set. Siena would hold on, scoring five straight points to take the second set, 25-19.

Third set, both teams traded points to tie the set at 16. With the set tied, the Peacocks would score four straight points to take a 20-16 advantage. Saint Peter's would continue to maintain their offensive, holding a 24-18 lead. The Peacocks would then suffer a letdown, as Siena went on to score six consecutive points to win the third set 26-24.

With the loss, Saint Peter's falls to 3-18 overall and 1-8 in MAAC play. Siena improves to 8-10 overall and 7-1 in MAAC play.

Saint Peter's returns to action Sunday, Oct. 13 when they welcome Marist to the Yanitelli Center for its conference match.
