Zmolek Scores First Goal of the Season in 4-1 Loss to the Mount

Box Score

The Saint Peter's University women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to Mt. St. Mary's this afternoon. The Peacocks fall to 1-6 with the loss, while the Mount improves to 2-2.

Ragan Cote helped lead the Mount to a 2-0 lead heading into the half-time break. Cote first scored just over 12 minutes into the opening frame, kicking in a save made by Peacocks' keeper Caitlin Hoffer. Cotte added her second marker at 24:27 on a shot in the box.

Alicia Mirando added the third goal at 75:16, on a corner kick that bended into the upper corner of the goal. Senior midfielder Chloe Zmolek scored her fifth career goal, first of the season, at 79:05 on a shot from 20 yards out to bring Saint Peter's within 2 at 3-1.

The two goal deficit would be short lived for the Peacocks however, as the Mount scored their fourth goal less than 30 seconds later off the foot of MacKenzie Buckwalter.

Saint Peter's finished the game with 6 shots to Mount's 23. 4 of the Peacocks shots were on goal compared to 17 of Mt. St. Mary's. Both teams committed 6 fouls in the contest.

Despite allowing the four goals, Hoffer had several spectacular saves, coming up with 13 stops.

Saint Peter's returns to action this upcoming Tuesday, as they travel to New Haven, CT for a 8pm match against Yale.
