The Saint Peter's University volleyball team was swept by St. Francis College this afternoon, 17-25, 22-25, 21-25. Laura Reinhart and Lauren Behrens each had 8 putdowns in the contest, while also coming up with 12 and 11 digs, respectively.
The Peacocks trailed in every set, failing to attain a lead with the exception of the second frame, when they were able to establish an 8-1 run to go in front 22-21. Saint Peter's trailed by as many as seven points halfway through the set (14-7), but an eight point run paced by Lexi Wirth's serving gave Head Coach Andrew Brown's squad their lone advantage of the entire match. A kill by St. Francis's Naomi Flinders tied the score at 22-22 however, and the Terriers closed out the set with a 4-0 run for the win.
Junior libero Jenny Pliska finished with a match high 19 digs, while middle hitter Stephanie Mills recorded 4 blocks (3 solo).
Saint Peter's returns to action this weekend, as they travel down south for the West Virginia Golden Horseshoe Challenge. They will play two matched on Friday, against Wright State (1pm) and host West Virginia (7:30pm).
