The Saint Peter's University Peacocks (2-6) dropped their final game of their five-game road trip this afternoon, 2-1 to the Temple University Owls (2-3-1). The Owls took the lead in the first half and then scored an insurance tally in the opening minute of the second half to seal the victory. Noah Sadaoui got the Peacocks on the board midway through the second half, but the Peacocks could not find the equalizer. Carlos Suarez made eight saves for the Peacocks.
Temple scored first at 31:24 off a play inside the box and a shot from 15 yards out. With 25:30 to play in the first half, Suarez stopped a penalty kick to keep the score 1-0 Owls. The first half ended with the same score. Temple had eight shots on goal, while the Peacocks had three. Suarez made seven saves in the opening frame. The Owls had two corner kicks to the Peacocks one.
Temple doubled their lead in the first minute of the second half. Sadaoui then cut the deficit in half at the 23:02 mark as Luca de Stasio stole the ball and found Sadaoui in the box. Sadaoui buried the ball into the open net. Saint Peter's had numerous chances in the final 20 minutes to tie and even win the game, but could not convert. Saint Peter's finished with six shots on goal to the Owls 11, while Temple had fiver corner kicks to the Peacocks four.
Saint Peter's will have a week off before returning to the pitch on Saturday, September 29th to host the La Salle Explorers for a 1pm kick-off at Jaroschak Field.
