Box Score Despite trailing by just one goal after the first half, the Saint Peter's University women's soccer team (1-3) dropped a 5-2 decision to the Wagner University Seahawks (1-3) this afternoon. The Peacock's 16 attempted shots are the most by the team, since they registered 16 on October 31st of 2010 against MAAC rival Canisius. Last year, the Peacocks finished with double-digit shots on just two separate occasions.
Senior Jamie Lisanti led Saint Peter's with a career-high two goals. After trailing 1-0 following the first frame, the midfielder from Clifton, New Jersey blasted a shot from 25 yards out into the corner of the goal at 46:13 to tie the game at 1-1. Lisanti would score again for the Peacocks less than ten minutes later (54:12) off a free kick.
The Seahawks however managed to tie the game just over four minutes following Lisanti's second goal, on a shot in front of the goal by Julie Vigliotti. Wagner netted the eventual game-winner in the 65th minute off the foot of Jackie Nicholas, who would again score at 66:27 to put the hosts ahead 4-2. Vigliotti scored her second goal of the game, and the 5th for the Seahawks, at 75:05 off a rebound.
Both teams took 3 corner kicks in the contest, while Wagner committed 6 fouls to Saint Peter's 5. The Peacocks were out-shot 21-16, and had 7 shots on goal to the Seahawks' 11.
Both of Lisanti's goals were unassisted.
Caitlin Hoffer finished with 6 saves in the loss.
Saint Peter's returns to action this Friday, October 31st, for a home game against UMBC. Kick-off is scheduled for 4pm.
