Box Score Despite a tied score at the half, the Saint Peter's University women's soccer team fell to the Monmouth Hawks 4-3 this afternoon. Emily Fenice scored for the second consecutive game, while Caitlin Hoffer added 12 saves in the loss.
The Peacocks got on the board just over one minute into the contest, as Maggie Neiswanger scored from 25 yards out off a Hawk turnover for an early 1-0 lead. Monmouth evened the score in the 29th minute, and added a go-ahead goal three minutes later. The hosts would score an own-goal to tie the game before the half-time break.
Thirteen minutes after play resumed, the Peacocks were awarded a penalty kick, which sophomore forward Emily Fenice took and netted. Dana Costello scored the game-tying and winning goals at 64:53 and 80:17 for Monmouth, to complete the hat-trick.
Saint Peter's totalled 6 total shots, 5 on goal, to Monmouth's 28 shots, 17 on goal. The Hawks took 13 corner kicks to the Peacocks' 2, while Monmouth committed 11 fouls and Saint Peter's had 7.
The team returns to action this upcoming Monday, when they travel to Staten Island, NY for a 4pm game against Wagner.
