SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – A hat trick by sophomore forward Noah Sadaoui led the Saint Peter's University Peacocks (1-0) to a season opening 3-1 win over the Seton Hall University Pirates (0-1). The win is the first over the Pirates since 2003 and the Peacocks first win in a season opener since defeating La Salle to begin the 2007 season. Sadaoui scored one in the first to tie the game and then scored two in the second half. Carlos Suarez was spectacular in goal, making nine saves for the Peacocks.
"Our players worked really hard tonight for a good performance," said Saint Peter's Head Coach Julian Richens. "An away win at a Big East opponent is an excellent way to start the season."
The Pirates got on the board first at 24:30. The Peacocks tied the scored at 1-1 at 35:36 as Noah Sadaoui scored in the box off a pass from Maged Alkasimi. The game would go into the break with a tie score.
Sadaoui gave the Peacocks the lead at 2-1 at 53:41 of the second half, scoring in the box off a pass from Betim Bajrami. Sadaoui then added an insurance goal in the 66:27 for a 3-1 lead.
Saint Peter's was outshot 21-12 with the shots on goal 10-7. Seton Hall also had the advantage with six corners to three for the Peacocks.
