The Saint Peter's College baseball team dropped a 19-2 decision to Wagner College this evening. The Peacocks scored their lone runs in the third and seventh while Wagner scored at least two runs in each inning, with the exception of the fourth when they did not score any. Eric Mozeika received the loss after giving up 6 earned runs, 6 hits and 1 walk in just 1.2 innings of work.
In the third inning, the Peacocks managed to load the bases to open the frame following consecutive hits by Matt Speckmann, Pat Farrell and Nick Henriquez. Saint Peter's could manage only one run after James Smith walked to bring home Speckmann with one out before Wagner turned an inning ending double-play. SPC scored their second and last run on an RBI groundout by Zack Rawson, scoring Henriquez who singled on earlier in the inning.
The Seahawks scored four runs in each of the first and second innings, two in each of the third, fifth, sixth and seventh innings and three in the eighth.
Saint Peter's was out-hit by Wagner 21-9 and committed 4 errors to the hosts' 1. Matt Speckmann finished the game 3-4 with a run scored while Nick Henriquz finished 2-4 with a run as well.
Saint Peter's returns to action tomorrow, as they travel to Westpoint, NY to face Army for a 3:30pm game.
