Recap:
The Saint Peter's College (13-22, 4-5 MAAC) baseball team picked up a 5-3 victory over the Canisius College Golden Griffins (19-19, 7-2 MAAC) Sunday afternoon. Brian Koster connected on a three-run home run in the third inning, while Matt Mancini pitched 6-1/3 innings and gave up 3 runs on 8 hits to record his fourth victory of the season.
The Peacocks got on the board early, scoring in the first inning on an RBI single by Brian Schroeder to bring home Zack Rawson. SPC added three more markers two innings later, on a three run homer to right center by Brian Koster.
Canisius came up with three runs in the fifth to come within one at 4-3, but the Peacocks reestablished a two run lead scoring in the next inning on a sacrifice fly by Chris Grimes, scoring Matt Speckmann.
Dom Macaluso pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Mancini to record the save. Macaluso entered the game in the seventh, and induced a groundball to end the inning and a potential Canisius rally.
Zack Rawson led Saint Peter's from the plate going 2-3 with two walks and scored 2 runs. Chris Grimes (2-3, 1 run, 1 RBI), Brian Koster (2-4, 1 run, 3 RBI) and Brian Schroeder (2-4,1 RBI) all had multi-hit games as well.
The Peacocks return to action this Tuesday, April 17th as they face Wagner at 7pm.
