The Saint Peter's College baseball team dropped both games of today's double-header against Canisius College, 6-3 and 10-1. Zach Hopf received the loss in game one giving up 3 earned runs, 8 hits and 4 walks in 6.1 innings. Matt Yuhas went 6 plus innings and gave up 9 hits, 5 earned runs and 2 walks for the game two loss.
In game one, the Peacocks held on to a one run lead for three innings after scoring early in the first on a Chris Grimes RBI base hit, until Canisius tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth. The Griffs would add a second marker in the following inning to take a 2-1 lead and add four additional runs in the seventh to go ahead 6-1.
Saint Peter's did manage to add two more runs, one in the seventh and one in the eighth off an RBI double and base-hit by Chris Grimes and Pat Farrell, respectively.
Matt Speckman lead the Peacocks from the plate going 3-4, while Chris Grimes finished 2-5 with 2 RBI.
In game two, Saint Peter's scored their lone run in the fourth inning on a RBI single by Brian Schroeder to score Brian Koster who doubled on earlier in the frame. Canisius scored three runs in the third, one in fifth, one in the sixth and five in the seventh.
Brian Koster and Brian Schroeder both finished the game 2-3.
The Peacocks conclude their three-game series against the Golden Griffins tomorrow at 12pm.
