Recap:

The Saint Peter's College (8-17) baseball team won their third straight game, defeating the Monmouth University Hawks (13-10), 6-3, Tuesday afternoon. The Peacocks have won five of their last six games dating back to their 5-1 win over St. Joseph's on March 18th. SPC trailed 3-1 into the seventh inning, until they exploded for 5 runs on 6 hits and 2 Hawk errors. Mark Wilson pitched 1-1/3 innings in relief and did not give up a run or a hit to be credited with the win. Dom Macaluso came on in the ninth to earn his second save of the season.

Monmouth got on the board early, scoring three runs (all unearned) on four hits and two Peacock errors in the top of the first. That would be the extent of the visitors' offensive threat, as they failed to score the rest of the game. The Hawks left 6 runners on base in the remaining eight innings.

Saint Peter's scored their first marker of the game in the fourth on an RBI single by Pat Farrell down the left field line to bring home Nick Henriquez. Henriquez had started off the frame with a leadoff double to right center.

Three innings later the Peacocks exploded for five runs, four of which were charged to newly inserted Hawk relief pitcher Joe Loiodice, who was charged with the loss.

Matt Speckmann started off the bottom of the seventh with a base hit that scored SPC's second run of the game, following a Matt Mancini single combined with a fielding error by the Hawk's center fielder. Manicini, who moved to second on the miscue, came home in the next at bat by way of an RBI single from Nick Henriquez (3-3).

With the bases loaded and one out, Brian Koster came through with a two RBI single through the left side, scoring Justyn Carter and Alberto Rodriguez to put Saint Peter's up two at 5-3. A base hit to center field by William Rawson two batters later brought Russ Stupienski home for the last Peacock run of the game.

Justyn Carter led Saint Peter's going 3-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base. Nicholas Henriquez also finished with three hits (3-5), while scoring a run as well.

The Peacocks return to action this weekend, as they host MAAC rival Fairfield University for a three game series starting Saturday March 31st. First pitch of the first game is scheduled for 12pm.
