Unable to attain a lead for the entirety of the contest, the Peahens (2-12) were defeated by Army (9-8) 5-3 Saturday afternoon. After trailing by one run early on, Saint Peter's managed to tie the score on two separate occasions, at 1-1 and later 3-3, until the Black Knights scored what proved to be the game winning runs in the top of the eighth. Carolyn Griffin went 7 innings and gave up 11 hits, 3 earned runs and 2 walks to receive the loss.
Saint Peter's scored the game tying run (1-1) in the bottom of the third off an RBI single by Lexi Gallagher to score Tori Feorenzo. Army added two runs in the fifth inning, and were able to maintain their 3-1 advantage until the seventh, when the Peahens recorded two runs to even the score.
With one out, Michelle Tinajero would receive the base on balls, followed by a single by Shelby Beaver to put runners on first and second. Back-to-back base hits by Feorenzo and Fran D'Amato brought home both base runners to score the second and third Peahen runs.
The game would then head into extra innings with Army scoring 2 runs on 2 hits and a Peahen error. Saint Peter's went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning to give the Black Knights the 5-3 win.
Army finished with 13 hits to SPC's 5, while each team committed an error a piece.
Tori Feorenzo led the Peahens on the offensive end finishing 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI. D'Amato, Gallagher and Beaver accounted for the team's remaining three hits.
