Peacocks Compete At Fordham And Yale Over The Weekend

The Saint Peter's University track & field teams continued to show signs of another strong Indoor season over the weekend. The squads were split at two sites; Fordham on Friday and Yale on Saturday.

At The Fordham Opener, senior Jaleesa Dunlap established a new Saint Peter's standard in the Mile, posting a time of 5:14.73. Jamelia Johnson won the Long Jump in 5.53 meters and took second in the Triple Jump with a leap of 11.27 meters.

Isaiah Harris led the men, winning the High Jump as well as the Triple Jump. Kene Anek finished first in the Shot Put, and Ieshawn Johnson won the Weight Throw. 

At the Yale Meet, freshman Lance Weaver broke the college's 1000 meter record, set in 1992 by Paul Capuzzi. Weaver posted a time of 2:30.98.

Fellow first year student-athlete Jamel Presley also entered the Peacock record books by winning the 60m Hurdles in a record time of 8.18 seconds.

Other victories were posted by Kevin Persson in the 500m, Stefanny Laureano in the 400m and Renee Brzyski in both the 60 Hurdles and the High Jump. 

Saint Peter's returns to action following the winter break, on January 5th at Monmouth.
