HACKENSACK, NJ – The Saint Peter's College Peacocks (0-3) dropped their third straight game to start the season tonight, 73-62 at the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights (1-2). FDU used a 14-5 run to start the second half to open up an 18-point lead and then used an 9-1 run late in the game to put it out of reach. Jack Hill led the Peacocks with a career-high 15 points.
Fairleigh Dickinson scored the first four points of the game, but Jack Hill then scored five straight for Saint Peter's to give the Peacocks a 5-4 lead with 17:18 to play. The Peacocks added six more for an 11-2 overall run and an 11-8 lead. Saint Peter's then led 13-10, but the Knights used an 11-2 run to retake the lead at 21-15 at the 6:22 mark. Saint Peter's got to within 21-20, but FDU ended the half on a 7-2 run to take a 28-23 lead into the break.
Lamin Fulton led Saint Peter's with six points. George Goode led all scorers with 10 for Fairleigh Dickinson. Saint Peter's shot just 32.1% from the field and allowed the Knights to shoot 50%. The Peacocks had a slight rebounding advantage 16-14 and each team committed nine turnovers.
Fairleigh Dickinson started the second half on a 14-5 run to open up to a 14-point lead, 42-28 with 15:07 to play. Saint Peter's got to within 10 points at 42-32, but an 8-0 spurt by the Knights extended their advantage to a game-high 18 points at 50-32. The Peacocks then used a 12-3 run to cut the lead to nine points at 53-44.
Saint Peter's then got to within seven points at 56-49 at the 6:46 mark, but an 9-1 run by the Knights extended their lead back to 15 points and put the game out of reach for the Peacocks. Saint Peter's did get to within eight points in the final minute, but fell by the 11-point margin.
Hill was 7-9 from the field and had six rebounds to lead five Peacocks in double figures. Chris Prescott scored 14 points, Fulton added 12 points, while Karee Ferguson and Yvon Raymond each scored 10 points. Goode led all scorers with 16 points for the Knights.
FDU shot a blistering 56.5% from the field and held the Peacocks to 34.3% from the field. The Peacocks outrebounded the Knights 38-34 and forced FDU into 19 turnovers while committing 16.
Saint Peter's will return to action on Sunday night as they host the Binghamton Bearcats at 7pm at the Yanitelli Center.
