Women’s Basketball Suffers Home Loss to Marist On Friday Night

The Peacocks lost to Marist 62-42

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's women's basketball team fell to Marist 62-42, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action on Friday night in Jersey City. Briyanah Richardson and Cinnamon Dockery each put up nine points for the Peacocks.

Game Notes vs. Marist:
  • Marist started off the game with an early 12-point run.
  • The Peacocks continued to fight in the first quarter, bringing the score to 24-9 going into the second frame. 
  • The Peacocks scored four straight points to begin the second, cutting the score to 24-13. 
  • In the final minutes of the first half, the Peacocks went on an 8-0 run to cut the Red Foxes lead to eight. 
  • During the run, Richardson scored a layup, followed by back to back threes from Cinnamon Dockery and Richardson again, only giving Marist an eight point lead at half, 33-25. 
  • After giving up back to back 3-pointers to open the half, the Peacocks responded with a 7-0 run.
  • The run cut the Marist lead to seven points, as the Peacocks trailed 39-32. 
  • In the final quarter, the Red Foxes outscored the Peacocks, 15-8, securing the win 62-42.
Inside The Numbers:
  • Richardson came just shy of a double-double, finishing with nine points, eight rebounds, and four steals. 
  • Cinnamon Dockery had a career high nine points and seven rebounds against the Red Foxes. 
  • Jordyn Hawthorne totaled five points for the Peacocks in 17 minutes of play, both career highs.
  • Wil'lisha Jackson added a total of eight points and seven rebounds for the Peacocks. 
  • Anna Maguire made her first career start in the game.
